Vitamins/Supplements

Not all prenatals are created equal! *As up to 3/5ths of Americans have a genetic mutation of the MTHFR gene making it difficult for your body to use folate or folic acid, there is a general recommendation for women seeking to get pregnant to avoid Folic Acid (commonly in fortified grain products) and to seek out a prenatal that has a methylated form of folate that is bioavailable – look for L-methylfolate or L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate

What The Church Teaches on Infertility

It can be extremely tempting to seek out modern care that separates the unitive and procreative ends of marriage. The Catholic Church teaches any treatment that separates or replaces the marital act is immoral; methods such as In vitro fertilization (IVF) and intra uterine insemination (IUI) are immoral as they separate the unitive and procreative ends. Similarly, artificial contraception also separates these ends. The Church teaches any new life created, whether in a loving sexual act, a less than happy circumstance, or a laboratory, is loved and precious in the sight of God. However, the problem arises in the means (or medical procedures) the couple and physicians must perform to get to the desired end. It is strongly advised to not go down this road of fertility treatments that replace the marital act, and instead seek out root cause help through restorative medicine in line with God’s teaching for married love.
